There was a tackle on Film Indonesia

Year that will soon leave behind us is the year of the iceberg for the problems which, according to national film critic Eric Sasono "turns out to have undergone decay since a long time". Tip of the iceberg that is the case of chaotic pajar imported film which causes the absence of a Hollywood movie in theaters the country for some time.

Of course, the problem is no longer limited to the last Harry Potter film late into Jakarta. But, in the view of Eric, about the chaotic film import tax was not separated from the political-economic issues of Indonesian cinema since the beginning of history until now.

Together with a team of House Films consisting of Ekky Imanjaya, Ifan Adriansyah Ismail and Hikmat Darmawan, Eric conducted a study that traced the political economy of Indonesian cinema. The result, in outline, the research team found that there is tension, intersection and even battle the forces outside the film, which determines the "life and death" national films.

"Behind Harry Potter fuss, which led to Mr. Jero Wacik as a hero, it was revealed publicly state that has long terjegal spectacle of their right to diversity, which it also means diversity of voices or messages in the film," said Eric when discussing the results of research which is poured in a thick 354 page book, titled 'tackle on Film Indonesia: Mapping the Political Economy of the Indonesian Film Industry.'
